Pokémon News Recap – Week of May 26th, 2025

Collectibles, Cards, Vending Machines, Plushies & More!

Hey Pokemaniacs! This week’s Pokémon news is packed with cool drops, surprise releases, and even some possible chaos brewing at Costco. Let’s dive into what’s new across the English and Japanese Pokémon Centers, TCG updates, and great finds for your collection.

English Pokémon Center Updates

  • Vending Machine Takeover

    • There are now 1,473 Pokémon Center vending machines across 25 U.S. states—up from just 120 last fall. The rollout is real. Keep an eye out next time you're at a mall or major shopping center. Find out if there are any in your area here
  • Pokémon Hand Puppets Arrive

    • The Pokémon hand puppets that debuted in Japan are now available in the U.S.! Choose from full-sized or keychain versions—perfect for playful collectors or puppet-show masters.
  • Pokémon Golf Gear

    • New golf apparel just dropped! Think performance polos, comfy shorts, and adorable Pikachu & Eevee golf club covers. Functional and collectible? We love to see it.
  • Ditto Plush Wave

    • A surprise wave of Ditto-faced Pokémon plushies hit the site, and it’s a big one! There’s even a sleeping Ditto version that’s just too cute.
  • Pokedex-Size Espeon & Umbreon Plush

    • Preorders are now open for Pokédex-sized Espeon and Umbreon Poké Plush. These 1:1 scale plushies are $400 each and available until June 13th—perfect for trainers who want a “real” Pokémon experience (minus the mess).
      • Coming this fall: Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon preorders. Sylveon fans, start budgeting.

Japanese Pokémon Center Highlights

  • Pokémon Scale World – Hisui Region

    • A new Scale World figure set featuring the Hisuian region is on the way! This 12-figure lineup includes the main character, starters, the Lake Trio, and more—all for around $33 USD. Absolute steal. Preorder them here.

Mewtwo & Mew Figure by Funism

  • This 6" Mewtwo & Mew figure just launched in China and it’s incredibly detailed for its size. Usually you only see this level of polish in larger (and pricier) figures. Importing might be tricky, but it’s worth the effort if you're a fan of the duo.

Pokémon TCG News

  • GameStop Purchase Limits

    • GameStop has started limiting Destined Rivals TCG products to 1 per SKU per customer (except sleeved boosters, which are capped at 5). Not surprising—but definitely something to plan around.
  • More Products in Stores?

    • It seems like TCG restocks are improving. I’ve actually found cards at Walmart twice this week! Anyone else seeing better luck out there?
  • New Costco Bundle – Prismatic Evolutions

    • Costco is rumored to drop a new Prismatic Evolutions bundle soon. It includes:
      • 2 Elite Trainer Boxes

      • 2 Booster Bundles

      • 30 total booster packs
        Expected price: ~$120
        Limit: 1 per membership

        • Fingers crossed this cuts down on the aisle scuffles.

Pokémon Media & More

  • Pokémon Horizons – Season 2

    • The next wave of Pokémon Horizons: The Search for Laqua arrives on Netflix (US) June 27th, 2025. Plenty of time to catch up before the new batch of episodes drops.
  • Favorite Pokémon Poll by Johto Times

    • Over at The Johto Times, they have launched their 2025 Favorite Pokémon Poll!
Vote for your top 6 Pokémon in each region
The top 10 per region will move to the Grand Final in August
Voting is open until July 31st
    • Get your votes in and show your favorites some love! Official Voting Site

That’s a Wrap!
